Natural Hair Blogs You Must Know

We all need some outside advice when it comes to learning about our natural hair. Before I decided to start my own blog I loved reading others natural hair blogs and I still do. These blogs  inspire you to learn more about your natural hair and what is the best way to go about managing it. Here are some but not all of my favorite natural hair blogs. Jenell Stewart is the founder and editor in chief of Kinky Curly Coily Me. Jenell decided to embrace her natural hair, by way of the big chop, on March 26, 2010. She created KinkyCurlyCoilyMe as a way to track her journey and share it with others. Within the first two years of blogging, Jenell transitioned her blog into a natural hair care website for women in need of hair education and support.



In September 1998, Two curly-haired women partnered to publicly address their personal frustrations with the lack of attention, products and services tackling concerns that are today considered some of the utmost important in beauty. Michelle Breyer and Gretchen Heber created a simple online discussion board. Their collective passion and vision fueled something much greater — a full-blown, far-reaching community platform offering qualified user-generated product and stylist reviews, helpful expert content, and direct digital access to known products as well as emerging brands.




CurlyNikki.com serves as an online “hair therapy session” for those struggling to embrace their naturally curly hair. It not only serves as an educational tool, but as a platform for each of you to share your experiences, frustrations, and triumphs of being Naturally Glamorous.



ChicNaturalistas was created by two friends, Dayna and Brittany. This blog  was created to inspire women to embrace their natural hair in style. It is the perfect space to spotlight  confidence with natural hair and the for love of fashion, giving readers inspiration for how to style an entire look. CHICNaturalistas aim to promote the beauty of natural hair and fashion inspiration. CHICNaturalistas is “Where Fashion and Fros Collide”.




Trinidadian-born writer Patrice Grell Yursik  created Afrobella to fill a void and to celebrate the inner and outer beauty of women of all shades. Her award-winning blog shines a loving light on natural hair and the wonderfully wide range of gorgeous skin tones and sizes women come in.  Afrobella has been listed as one of Ebony Magazine’s Power 100, and has won more than ten online awards, including inclusion to the Black Weblog Awards Hall of Fame. Afrobella.com has had over 11 million page views in its existence.



Unruly is a natural hair blog that show appreciations and celebrates the beauty of black hair. The purpose of unruly is  to celebrate and inspire the versatility and beauty of Black hair and women.  Unruly aim to be a supportive community, stirring productive dialogue within the female and Black communities at large.

    I don’t know much about hairstyles and stuff like that, but I do have curly hair myself and it can sometimes be a pain. But this post really showcases how other people have struggled with having natural hair and how they have made it so much better. Very interesting.
